Ashley Scott

My name is Ashley Scott. 9 months ago my 21 year old sister died very suddenly from a Pulmonary Thrombosis Embolism.

There were no warning signs at all. She simply woke up to turn her alarm clock off, and she fell to the floor, where she later died.

Since then my mother and I have been tested. I found out that I had Factor V Leiden about three months ago. My mother just found out this past week that she was heterozygote as well.

Losing my sister was by far the hardest thing I have ever had to go through in my life. Now I live in fear for my own life. My mother, father, and myself all started taking an 81 mg. baby aspirin a day. That is all my hematologist said that I needed. Although what we are living with everyday is a very scary thing, I know in my heart that people know by now what to do for such a thing. I feel very confident in the doctors that have helped me and my family. I only hope that we can get support from other people who are living with a condition similar to ours.
